WIHDA TEC

History
The history of this portal began in 1997 with the creation of the company AUTOTEC Autoroute de la Technologie T.I founded by Rachid Ayoub in Montreal.
Nearly 6,000 immigrants born in Algeria were part of the population of the Montreal metropolitan area in 1996. The number of newcomers has steadily increased since then, which has led to strong requests from the various information services to settle in Canada (accommodation, employment, education, etc.).
This is how the idea of a portal was born to facilitate the orientation of newcomers. Internet technology in general and the web in particular were in their infancy (Netscape, Yahoo, low bandwidth, dial-up connection, etc.) and data centers “Data Centers” were not yet very widespread worldwide.
In May 1998, AUTOTEC began to set up its own ”mini-data center “ under Microsoft Linux and IIS of 3 servers, to host websites, DNS servers, email, FTP, etc. The first website was www.autotec.net. At the beginning of January 2000, the first portal with the name of Birmandreis (Bir Mourad Rais, birthplace of Rachid in Algiers) was launched: www.birmandreis.com with its two sub-domains: maghreb.birmandreis.com and quebec.birmandreis.com and in three languages (French, English and Spanish). At that time, the Arabic language was not yet available for the Web. It was this first step in the world of portals that is the origin of the site WIHDA tec.
With this portal, our vision was that of a single window of services information, exchanges, sales, purchases, auctions with classified ads and a directory of companies as well as other services.
With technology fast advancing, it was time to set up an information exchange platform. We continued our contribution modestly and improved our data sources.
We thank all our partners and friends who supported us on this project.
Original site ref Wihda Tec is: birmandreis.com ( Bir Mourad Rais)!
