WIHDA TEC

The WIHDA TEC adventure began in 1997 with the creation of the company AUTOTEC – Autoroute de la Technologie T.I. (Technology Highway I.T.), founded by Rachid Ayoub in Montreal.

At the time, thousands of new Algerian immigrants were settling in Quebec and looking for guidance to successfully integrate: housing, employment, studies... Faced with these growing needs, the idea of an information and orientation portal emerged.

In May 1998, AUTOTEC set up its own mini data center under Linux and IIS, with three servers to host websites, DNS, emails, and FTP. The first site, autotec.net, marked the start of a pioneering digital adventure.

In January 2000, the first community portal, Birmandreis.com (named after Rachid's childhood neighborhood in Algiers), was born, available in three languages: French, English, and Spanish. This was the cornerstone of the WIHDA TEC project.

Our vision: a one-stop digital services shop promoting information, exchange, and networking—a space where mutual aid, innovation, and opportunities meet.

Thanks to technological advancements and the support of our partners, WIHDA TEC continues to evolve to meet the needs of communities, always with the same passion and the same original
